Pope Benedict XVI announced on 10 May 2011 the appointment of Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto as Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.

Nuncio Pinto was born on 26 May 1952 at Noci, Italy.  Ordained priest 01 April 1978.  Consecrated bishop in 2002.

A canon lawyer.  Speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish.

Joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 01 May 1984.  He served in Papua New Guinea, Argentina and the Secretariat of State, Vatican City.

 Appointed Nuncio to Senegal, CapoVerde, Mali, Guinea–Bissauand Apostolic Delegate to Mauritania.  All in Africa.

Was Nuncio in Chile since 2007 up to his assignment to the Philippines.

He is the 16th in the line of Apostolic Delegates and Nuncios to the Philippines. (cbcpnews.com and zenitorg.com).

His predecessor, Archbishop Edward J. Adams was appointed Nuncio toGreeceon 22 February 2011.  A “despedida” mass was held on 04 May 2011 at the Manila Cathedral.  Thirty-five cardinals (Rosales and Sanchez).  archbishop and bishops concelebrated.
